January 17, 2011. This morning I noticed a bunch of pics of cars caught up in the Queensland floods on a newsgroup, so I copied them and made an album. Click here for the result.

January 16, 2011. Here we are half way through January already so I figured I'd better get OUT THERE and DO something. We've had a lotta rain in recent weeks so that's my excuse. Just to remind me in years to come when I read this again, this was the month Brisbane and other parts of Queensland had major floods.

But today is sunny and fine. In fact, it's bloody hot! I lasted only 1 hour at the NSW Rowing Association Point Score Regatta, hosted by Port Macquarie and Manning River Rowing Clubs, with 300-400 competitors from clubs across NSW. It was held on the Manning River, Taree, not far from where I live. I should have worn my hat, but I didn't. I should have put sunscreen on my arms and nose and neck but I didn't. After an hour of wandering around in that hot sun, even between 10 and 11am, I could feel the effects of the heat. So could a few others as you'll see, especially in pic 025.

I'm not a fan of rowing, and don't follow any particular club, so I was more interested in capturing some of the atmosphere. It was a good excuse to look for interesting shots, and even some creative ones. I noticed quite a few guys with awesome pecs, pumped by all that rowing, but there was no way I was gonna ask for a pose. I like my nose the way it is. Click here for the photo album.
